Description:

Europe, Bulgaria, ca. 1914 to 1917. A beautiful brass trench art vase with elaborate decoration created in the World War I era. Highlights of the decorative program include four entwined foliate forms that frame animals (two peacocks, a lion, and a ram) against a stippled background in their upper leaf-like forms and flowers in the lower ones. This said the entire surface is embellished with elaborate sinuous floral and geometric motifs so exemplary of the Art Nouveau style. Size: 10-1/8"H x 4-1/4" at widest. Provenance: Ex-private Colorado Springs collection. All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. #108795
