Lot 10A
Greece, Archaic Period, 8th to 5th century BCE. A simple, mold-made pottery figure of a standing goddess. She stands atop a squared-off platform with one arm raised to her breast and one to her stomach. She wears a simple veil that covers her hair but not her face. Her face is naturalistic and well-rendered. A figure like this was made to be sold outside of a temple, a small clay figure that would be left on an altar as an offering to the god or goddess honored within. Size: 1.9" L x 1.6" W x 7.4" H (4.8 cm x 4.1 cm x 18.8 cm)
