Description:

Magna Graecia, South Italy, Apulian, ca. 4th century CE. A sweet and petite lekythos presenting a classic form with an ovoid body, a slender tubular neck, a prominent spout with a flared rim, and a loop handle joining neck to shoulder - all upon a ring base. Painted via the red figure technique on the body is a female head in profile with her hair up in a saccos, and below the handle is a stylized palmette. Just above the lady are frets adorning the neck. A lovely example once used to hold aromatic oils. Size: 4.625" H (11.7 cm)
