**Originally Listed At $550**

Greece, South Italic Colonies, Apulia, ca. 340 to 325 BCE. A fine wheel-thrown pottery plate of a circular form with a shallow basin and a thick lip resting atop a protruding discoid foot. The pale-orange plate is decorated with areas of jet-black glaze which form the image of a left-facing woman within the basin. The elegant 'lady of fashion' presents with slender eyes, a pointed nose, a kekryphalos hairstyle, and fugitive white pigment accentuating her curled bangs and forming a 'beaded' necklace around her neck. Faint areas of silvery iridescence have formed across some glazed areas. Size: 4.875" W x 1.4" H (12.4 cm x 3.6 cm).
