Native American, Southwestern United States, Arizona, Apache people, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. A collection of 20 carved and painted bone playing game pieces modeled after European playing cards, but with traditional Native pictorial symbols. A full deck usually consisted of 40 cards and the most popular game was similar to poker. Mounted in a modern display case. Size of bone: 1.5" L x 0.75" W (3.8 cm x 1.9 cm); case: 17" L x 13" W (43.2 cm x 33 cm)
