Description:

North America, ca. 1907 CE. This is a fabric and cardboard box containing approximately 30 medical slides from the turn of the 20th century. The slides are hand labelled in beautiful cursive script and there is an object register on the inside lid of the box. The slides are of cells showing pathologies of different organs. Reading the slide description opens up a world of medical horror: "Casceous Tubercular Gland", "Onamic Necrosis of Liver", "Abcess of Liver", "Biliary Pigmented Liver", amongst others. Although we have not looked at them under a microscope, they look like they could reveal some interesting secrets! There are also two cut outs of magazine advertisements included in the box, which is where the date for this box comes from -- it could be slightly older. Size: 10-1/4" L x 7-1/4" W x 1-1/4" H (26 cm x 18.4 cm x 3.2 cm).
