Description:

Southeast Asia, Thailand, Ban Chiang, ca. 300 BCE. A beautiful bichrome pottery vessel with a rounded globular body and raised flat rim atop a petite pedestal on a flared foot. Adding to this impressive form is the finely painted decoration comprised of sinuous red lines meandering across the surface, punctuated by concentric red circular motifs, all beneath concentric red bands on a white ground that is also impressed or incised with wavy vertical striations. A lovely example from the ancients of Southeast Asia. Size: 7" W x 8" H (17.8 cm x 20.3 cm)

Provenance: private Houston, Texas, USA collection inherited from father in 1995, father collected before 1980
