Description:

Southeast Asia, Thailand, Ban Chiang, ca. 300 BCE. A beautiful bichrome pottery vessel with a rounded globular body and raised flared rim atop its tall cylindrical pedestal on a flared foot. Adding to this impressive form is the finely painted decoration comprised of swirling concentric red ovals on a white ground adorning the body, complementary red bands around the white upper pedestal, and red and white wave-like motifs over the cream-hued base. An elegant example of a rather dramatic form, replete with wonderful root marks and mineral deposits across areas of the surface. Size: 6.25" W x 8" H (15.9 cm x 20.3 cm)
