Description:

**Originally Listed At $450**

Ancient Iran, Zagros Mountain, Tepe Giyan, first half of second millennia BCE. Large and very unusual stone stamp seal of hard black stone. Carved in deep relief with what appears to be a single standing animal - possibly a camel, zebu or ibex. Above his head appears to be a star or moon. You can see each individual stroke used to carve this stone giving it a great insight into the effort going into making something so simple yet so significant. Drilled vertically for suspension a sit would have been worn on a cord around the owner's neck. Size: 1.5" W x 1.25" H (3.8 cm x 3.2 cm)
