Description:

Ancient Near East, Syria, Syro-Hittite, ca. 2750 BCE to 1900 BCE. A wondrous Syro-Hittite pillar figurine with mysterious eyes and a bird-like presence, yet the monolithic body and hourglass physique are distinctly human. The ancient deity stands nude with legs together, hands on waist, and arms bent at the elbows to resemble wings. Her thick neck rises to an avian-esque visage dominated by a projecting, beak-like nose and flanked by a sizeable pair of openwork ears. A flared coiffure or headdress crowns the head. Size: 2" W x 5.5" H (5.1 cm x 14 cm)
