Ancient Near East, Sumerian, ca. 3rd to 2nd millennium BCE. A large stamp seal bead etched with simplified quadruped creatures, possibly deer or ibex, the verso is pierced through for suspension. The creamy beige stone has pretty sienna red veining throughout. Ibex and deer were symbols of masculinity, swiftness, virility, and hunting prowess in the ancient Near East. Included is a modern clay impression of the seal. Size: 1.5" Diameter (3.8 cm)
