Ancient South Arabia, Yemen, ca. early first millennium BCE. A cast leaded-copper statuette of a camel with an erect head and neck, a slight hump, lengthy legs with delineated hooves, and a tail. The head is detailed with an incised features like a thin mouth, almond-shaped eyes, and a nasal ridge, and a pair of perky ears project outward. Deep wells on either side of the body may have one been pierced all the way through, perhaps to be worn as a pendant, and since has been filled in with soil deposits. A fine figural example covered in green and brown patina. Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 2.8" W x 2.75" H (7.1 cm x 7 cm); 3.375" H (8.6 cm) on included custom stand.
