Description:

Eastern Europe, Serbia, Danube region, Dubovac / Vatin culture, Middle Bronze Age II, ca. 1600 to 1400 BCE. An interesting and rare pottery idol figure from the ancient Balkan region and the Dubovac or Vatin culture. The highly abstract figure features a broad base - that once attached to a cylindrical piece, the rounded finial shape flattened and flared outward to the sides, with incised stippling and linear patterns deeply impressed into both side of the body. A simplified and rounded head with circular eyes emerges from the top of this enigmatic idol. Size: 3.5" L x 2" W x 4.75" H (8.9 cm x 5.1 cm x 12.1 cm); 5.75" H (14.6 cm) on included custom stand.
