Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. An intriguing mold-formed terracotta oil lamp with a circular base, rounded shoulders, a recessed tondo with a small fill hole, and a wide wick spout. The tondo displays an erotic scene of a man and woman on a cushioned bed, the woman with one leg held aloft and the man on his knees. A sumptuous example of fine Roman artistry! Size: 3.375" L x 2.4" W x 0.9" H (8.6 cm x 6.1 cm x 2.3 cm).
