Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A gorgeous and simple 89% to 90% gold (equivalent to 21K+) ring with a tapered shank and a massive protrusion at the top of the band. The knob at the top is rounded with a stacked appearance, carefully molded from a dense sheet of gold. The shank is also comprised of a thick sheet with the inner peripheries curved inward to create a fuller appearance to the band. The button face is unusual and is perhaps unfinished, meant to bear further engravings that would create special signet markings. Size (band): 0.95" W (2.4 cm); (protruding button): 0.44" L x 0.34" W x 0.3" H (1.1 cm x 0.9 cm x 0.8 cm); (opening): 0.75" Diameter (1.9 cm); gold quality: 89.66% to 90% (equivalent to 21K+); weight: 7.2 grams; US ring size: 6.25
