Roman Empire, ca. 1st to 3rd centuries CE. Rare high-karat gold pendant in the shape of a large grape leaf with grape clusters throughout. Formed in two halves, probably by working thin sheets of gold, small wire bale at top and then joined with ancient soldering technique. Quite rare and attractive! Weighs 9 grams, but there are dirt deposits on the interior adding to the weight. Gold tests at 20 kt+. Size: 1.25" W x 1.5" H (3.2 cm x 3.8 cm)
