Description:

Ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, Iran, and Afghanistan / Turkmenistan regions, Bronze Age to Iron Age, ca. 4th to 1st millennium BCE. A lovely ensemble of 10 copper alloy, stone, and bronze stamps and amulets from the ancient Near East, each featuring a drill hole or loop for suspending and wearing as beads or pendants. The stone beads all display rectangular or trapezoidal forms and are incised with stylized patterns. Alternatively, the metal pendants present varied forms, including target motifs, a mace head, a Janus-headed horse, and an openwork cross. Size of largest (openwork cross stamp): 1.5" L x 1.4" W x 0.6" H (3.8 cm x 3.6 cm x 1.5 cm)

  • All are wearable as beads or pendants, btu openwork cross is not recommended for wear due to fragility of suspension loop. All have expected age wear as shown with weathering, nicks, and abrasions to surfaces. Otherwise, all are intact with rich patina.
