Description:

Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A cast-bronze cudgel with fine layers of green and brown patina. The cylindrical weapon features a smooth handle, a gently flared lower rim, and a thick head decorated with a raised herringbone pattern. The cudgel was a devastating weapon when wielded in the right hands. It could be affixed to the end of a rod or pole to extend its reach or, in the case of a missing or broken pole, could be swung simply by grasping the socketing shaft. Size: 8.5" L x 1.5" W x 1.4" H (21.6 cm x 3.8 cm x 3.6 cm)
