Description:

Native American, Arctic, Inuit or Aleut peoples, ca. 1500 to 1800 CE. A sturdy utilitarian axe head that is hand-carved from dark gray-brown stone. The ovoid tool features a rounded butt end, a carved groove across the top for gripping, and a tapered blade head with a downward-facing edge. Smooth surfaces along the upper and lower peripheries of the blade edge suggest how this tool was used regularly for everyday tasks. Size: 6.125" L x 1.625" W (15.6 cm x 4.1 cm)
