Description:

Ancient Near East / Central Asia, Indus Valley, Harappan / Mohenjo-Daro civilization, ca. 2300 to 1900 BCE. An attractive pottery vessel hand-painted with impressive imagery of ferocious lions and swimming fish. Depicted along the walls of the vessel, the fierce felines each stretch open their wide mouths to show off their sizeable incisors as though letting out a rumbling roar, as columns of steppe motif separate them from one another and target designs adorn the field. The 2 fish embellish the flared top of the vessel, encircling the raised rim, each scale intricately delineated along their lengthy bodies. Size: 6.4" Diameter x 4" H (16.3 cm x 10.2 cm)
