Central Asia, India, Hindu, ca. 1st millennium CE. A sizeable and intricately carved stone bead of a generally ovoid form sharply carinated at the center. There are artful engravings etched into the walls of the bead; the central design being a woman seductively reclining on her back. The stone is inherently beautiful - a hard white stone with contrasting red inclusions. Superb detail and patina. Size: 1.3" L x 1.75" in diameter (3.3 cm x 4.4 cm)

Provenance: ex-Senatus Consulto, Copenhagen, Denmark; ex-Udzon Frank collection, acquired between 1920 to 1950
