Description:

Ancient Holyland, Levant, Early Bronze Age, ca. 3300 to 2030 BCE. A splendid and quite sizable pottery bowl adorned with a horizontal band of punctated dashes just below the rim. The graceful vessel presents a narrow base and smooth walls that rise to a voluminous body and inward-curving rim. Size: 12.4" Diameter x 8.3" H (31.5 cm x 21.1 cm)

A similar Early Bronze Age bowl of a more petite scale can be found at the Metropolitan Museum of Art under accession number 1978.134.13.

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis, however the structure of the clay inhibits it from yielding results. Regardless of this, we are confident that the piece is from the Early Bronze Age due to its similarity in form and style, as well as its apparent age wear.
