Ancient Near East, Holy Land, ca. 1st millennium BCE. A wheel-thrown pottery jar of a round-bottomed form with an apple-shaped body, a sloped shoulder, a squat rim, and a pair of thick strap handles. The exterior body exhibits dozens of shallow horizontal grooves consistent with the wheel-throwing process and create a textured surface that is easy to grip. Size: 7.3" W x 6.375" H (18.5 cm x 16.2 cm); 7.1" H (18 cm) on included custom stand.
