Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE; Near East, Islamic, ca. 9th to 10th century CE. A beautiful ensemble of 4 ancient glass vessels, 3 from ancient Rome and 1 from the ancient Near East. First is a squat Roman jarlet with a flared, in-folded rim and a spherical body bearing 6 equidistant impressions. Next is a slender unguentarium with 4 deep impressions that create a tall, X-shaped body. The largest vessel is a Roman bottle with a piriform body and a gently corseted neckline. Accompanying the Roman vessels is an Islamic bottle of squat size with a corseted foot, a cylindrical body, and a tubular neck with a thick rim. Each vessel is surrounded by mesmerizing layers of silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence indicative of their ages. Size of largest (Roman bottle): 2.3" W x 5.5" H (5.8 cm x 14 cm)
