Ancient Africa or Near East, Egyptian or Levantine, ca. 4th to 3rd millennium BCE. A hand-carved stone mace head exhibiting white hues and 5 relatively uniform lobes. A central hafting shaft is drilled through the middle of the piece so it could be affixed to the end of a long pole. Size: 1.875" W x 1.6" H (4.8 cm x 4.1 cm)

Provenance: East Coast collection, New York Gallery, New York City, New York, USA, acquired before 2010.

  • Condition: Chips to one lobe that have smoothed with age, with small nicks and light abrasions, otherwise intact and very good. Great surface smoothness throughout.
