Description:

Vietnam, Dong Son, ca. 100 BCE to 100 CE. This is a cast-molded bronze bracelet with a decoration of 10 round bells studded along one side. The wide band is decorated with close-cut raised lines. style. There are even, narrow triangular decorations around the mouth that are very clear. The handle has delicate, snaking designs on it. The Dong Son (or Dongson, or Ðông Son) culture thrived in northern Vietnam and its burials, rich in bronze goods, demonstrate a high level of wealth relative to neighboring areas. Many of the objects that we know about came from these burials. Music instruments or other musical items - particularly ones with bells - seem to have been highly prized in the Dong Son culture. Size: 3.1" W (7.9 cm)
