Central America, Costa Rica, ca. 200 to 600 CE. A refined flat pendant carved from jade with dark and light green inclusions. This minimalist motif is string-cut along its peripheries revealing a silhouetted abstraction of a squatting frog with folded limbs and bulging eyes. The stone is drilled through on parallel sides for attachment. Size: 1.5" L x 1.1" W (3.8 cm x 2.8 cm)

Provenance: private Superior, Colorado, USA collection; ex-Wartell collection, Florida, USA, acquired prior to 1990
