Western Europe, modern day Spain and Portugal, Iberian Late Bronze Age (Celtic), ca. 1300 to 600 BCE. A fascinating bronze idol figure of minimalist form, presenting a lengthy torso and stubbed arms that extend from square shoulders and lay at his sides. A thick neck supports his round, bald head, which displays a straight brow, recessed eyes, a square jaw, and a slightly open mouth. A pair of perforations flank his head, perhaps intended to represent ears. The size and form of this sculpture suggests that it was made to be a votive or offering piece, perhaps one that was kept in a domestic altar or placed into a grave. Size: 0.9" W x 2.2" H (2.3 cm x 5.6 cm); 4" H (10.2 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: ex-private collection of actor Anthony Quinn and his wife Katherine, Bristol, Rhode Island, USA acquired prior to 2000
