Description:

Ancient Near East, Canaan, the Levant, Middle Bronze Age II, ca. 1900 to 1550 BCE. A collection of 3 copper spear or javelin heads and lengthy necks that taper to slender hafting tangs. The widest has a flattened lanceolate tip, the shortest spear has a much smaller but also a flat-bifacial head. The longest has a 4-sided head, and functioned as a throwing javelin or may have attached to the butt end of a spear pole. Size of longest: 9.75" L x 0.5" W (24.8 cm x 1.3 cm)

Provenance: private Everett, Massachusetts, USA collection acquired from ArtAncient ltd, London, UK, 2015 & Hammer Auktionen, Switzerland, 2019.
