Description:

**Originally Listed At $900**

Ancient Central Asia, Bactria, ca. 3rd to 2nd millennium BCE. A smooth, rounded piece of coffee-brown stone with a flat base, an egg-shaped body, and twin holes drilled opposite each other at an angle through the top. The holes meet in the middle of the interior in a narrow opening through which one is able to touch two fingers together if one is in each drilled hole. Though aniconic objects like this example were used as large-scale weights, scholars believe they could have also assumed ritual or funerary contexts. Size: 6.75" W x 8.4" H (17.1 cm x 21.3 cm).
