Description:

Ancient Near East, Syrian Provincial, ca. 3rd millennium BCE. A finely preserved steatite stamp seal of a rectangular, bifacial form. The obverse features a standing deer with delineated musculature and a left-facing head bearing a set of slender antlers. The reverse shows a right-facing man who holds a staff and kneels in front of a seated man who raises a small cup in one hand. The stamp seal body is drilled laterally to form a suspension hole. Custom putty impressions included. Size: 1.6" L x 1.375" W (4.1 cm x 3.5 cm); 2.375" H (6 cm) on included custom stand.
