Arctic shores, ca. 5000 years ago. The walrus is an iconic Arctic animal, and they are famous for having the largest baculum of all land animals. The baculum is the penis bone, found in many placental mammals. The baculum is known to native peoples in the Arctic as an "oosik" and they were often polished and used as handles for knives and other tools. This example is large and smoothly polished. Size: 20.35" W x 1.95" H (51.7 cm x 5 cm); 5.75" H (14.6 cm) on included custom stand.
