Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Amlash, ca. early 1st millennium BCE. A charming figurine of a cast-copper bull standing atop a quartet of slender legs. The dignified bovine has a slightly corseted waist, a narrow tail draped to one side of the hind legs, a wavy dewlap in front of the chest, and a protruding hump atop its back. Impressed eyes flank the sides of the thick snout, and a pair of prominent horns projects from its head. Lovely brown and green patina are mottled across the surfaces. Size: 2.875" L x 1.4" W x 2.25" H (7.3 cm x 3.6 cm x 5.7 cm)

  • Condition: Professionally repaired across midsection, with light restoration and resurfacing along new material and small areas of forelegs. Abrasions and encrustations to body and head, with softening to some finer details, and slight bending to overall form of one leg. Light earthen deposits and great mottled patina throughout.
