Description:

Ancient Near East, Anatolia, Early Bronze Age, ca. 2700 to 2300 BCE. This exceptional, pottery libation vessel from Anatolia, or possibly Urartu, exemplifies the artistry and spiritual traditions of the Early Bronze Age. Featuring a tall, openwork pedestal, a deep bowl with a loop handle, and a wide U-shaped pour spout. It was likely used in ritual offerings to deities or ancestors. The crosshatched exterior hints at protective symbolism, while the warm orange hue and openwork patterns highlight the technical skill of Anatolian artisans.
