Description:

Ancient Near East, Anatolia, Syro-Hittite, ca. 2800 to 1500 BCE. A fine cast-copper idol figure of a slender form. The idol presents with fused legs and a vertical delineation cleft, stocky shoulders, a tapered neck, and outstretched arms holding an ambiguous item, perhaps a tablet or a weapon. The elongated head features a tab-shaped nose, puffy eyes with incised horizontal slits, a petite mouth, and dramatically arched eye brows. In addition, a thick brown patina envelops the entire composition. Size: 1.25" W x 3" H (3.2 cm x 7.6 cm); 3.375" H (8.6 cm) on included custom stand.
