Description:

Western Asia, Anatolia (Turkey), ca. 1st millennium BCE. A striking mold-made ceramic figure of a man, shown with tall headdress, a full beard, and a pendant on a large, raised chain around his neck. His body includes relief arms that cross his body and short legs that splay outwards. This figure was likely votive, made to be placed into a home altar or as an offering in a temple. Size: 1.6" W x 3.7" H (4.1 cm x 9.4 cm); 4.75" H (12.1 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: East Coast collection, New York Gallery, New York City, New York, USA, acquired before 2010
