Ancient Near East, Anatolia, Hacilar region, Middle Chalcolithic Period, ca. 3000 BCE. A beautiful hand-built pottery jar with a corseted body, a pair of nubbin handles emerging from opposite sides, and a cylindrical neck upon a flat base. The exterior walls are beautifully decorated with three russet red nested arches and two bands of the same hue encircle the neck, all upon a cream-hued ground. A beautiful example of utilitarian pottery from the Chalcolithic period! Size: 7.375" W at widest point x 6.5" H (18.7 cm x 16.5 cm)
