Description:

Native American, Southwestern USA, found in central eastern Arizona, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), ca. 1150 to 1250 CE. A charming bowl with black-on-white decoration on its interior: three circular swirls separated by three step-like designs. Swirls in rock art from this region denote calendars, while stepped motifs may represent the architecture of the cliff dwellings. Nice firing marks are on the exterior surface. Reserve black-on-white is from the southern border of the Anasazi/northern border of the Mogollon, representing a connection between the two cultures. Size: 5.5" W x 2.25" H (14 cm x 5.7 cm)

Provenance: private New Jersey, USA collection, purchased in 2012; found by Mark Brady at Old Platt Ranch, St. Johns, Arizona, USA
