Description:

Native American, Southwestern USA, found in central eastern Arizona, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), ca. 1100 to 1200 CE. A beautiful black-on-white ceramic bowl with painted decoration on its interior: five highly abstract bird heads set within a field of steps and lines perhaps meant to evoke the dramatic southwestern landscape. There are nice firing marks on the exterior surface. Reserve black-on-white is from the southern border of the Anasazi/northern border of the Mogollon, representing a connection between the two cultures. Size: 5.5" W x 2.25" H (14 cm x 5.7 cm)

Provenance: private New Jersey, USA collection, purchased in 2007; ex-Bill Freeman collection; ex-Monica King collection; ex-Dennis Permley collection
