Description:

Native American, Southwestern United States, Southeast Arizona and Northern Chihuahua region of Mexico, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), Mogollon culture, ca. 1000 to 1150 CE. A hand-built pottery jar of a rounded form with a stable base, a spherical body, and a deep basin surrounded by a flared rim. The exterior surfaces exhibit dozens of petite corrugations that provide the vessel with a richly textured feel. Size: 5.375" W x 4.3" H (13.7 cm x 10.9 cm).

Provenance: ex-Joan Shaw collection, bought in 1971; loaned to the Mesa Verde Museum, 1962-1970; ex-Bill Mitchell collection, Cortez, Colorado, USA, from 1958-1962
