Native American, Southwestern United States, Colorado and Arizona, Anasazi / Ancestral Puebloan, ca. 1050 to 1150 CE. A beautiful, hand-built pottery mug of a tall form with a tapering cylindrical body, a circular mouth, and a wide strap handle. The exterior has a captivating asymmetrical zigzag pattern and linear motif painted over its matte terracotta surface. With thick ceramic walls, this vessel is nicely weighted and features an astonishingly deep, cream-colored cavity which flares slightly out towards its base. A wonderful example!
