Southwestern US, found west of Dove Creek, Colorado, Anasazi (Ancient Puebloan) culture, ca. 1100 to 1250 CE. A charming black on white ceramic bowl with four regular, small holes through its inwardly-curved upper shoulder, allowing it to be hung on a wall or above a fire. A lovely example featuring a crisscrossed motif painted on the shoulder. Size: 3.25" W x 2.45" H (8.3 cm x 6.2 cm)

Provenance: ex-Joan Shaw collection, bought in 1971; loaned to the Mesa Verde Museum, 1962-1970; ex-Bill Mitchell collection, Cortez, Colorado, USA, from 1958-1962
