Native American, southwestern United States, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan) culture, ca. 1100 to 1250 CE. A broad, hand-built pottery bowl constructed using the coil-and-scrape technique with a white-gray surface and a rounded base. The interior of the basin is decorated with inversely corresponding cresting waves with serrated slopes that are enclosed within two registers of diamonds. The unadorned basin center is surrounded by an interior register of diamonds that create the appearance of a radiating sun. Lucite display stand for photography purposes only.   • Condition: Repaired from multiple large pieces, with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Minor abrasions and fading to pigment, with heavy chipping to underside of body. Nice remains of pigment within basin.
