Description:

Ancient Near East, Northern Iran and Southeastern Turkey, Luristan / Amlash, Iron Age, ca. 11th to 7th century BCE. A cast bronze vessel with an intriguing shape and prominent spout, resting on a flat base. A long channel-spout rises from a domed applique surrounded by additional knobs and an applied tapered panel is riveted to the side of the body opposite of the spout- perhaps part of a handle at one time. Vessels like this were likely used to pour ritual libations during religious ceremonies, perhaps during funerary rituals as many have been found in burial sites. Size: 9.5" L x 4.25" Diameter x 5.25" H (24.1 cm x 10.8 cm x 13.3 cm)
