Description:

Ancient Near East, Northern Iran and Southeastern Turkey, Amlash, ca. 1200 BCE. A wheel-thrown buffware pottery milk bowl of shallow form with a squat pedestal foot, a broad basin, and a loop on one side of the rim. The exterior surfaces are decorated with intricately stippled and latticework panels in a radial form, and below the rim are sets of parallel stripes enclosing a register of crosshatching-filled diamonds. Size: 6.9" L x 6.5" W x 2.75" H (17.5 cm x 16.5 cm x 7 cm)

  • Condition: Fading to pigment in scattered areas, with iron oxidation in a few areas, and heavy encrustations and calcifications around and within the foot, otherwise intact and very good. Nice preservation to painted decorations. Inventory label within foot.
