Description:

North America, United States, World War II era, ca. 1939 to 1945 CE. A gas mask, canister, and original canvas carrying case issued to American civilians in high threat areas. This mask is an adult size medium with a rubberized body, five adjustable elastic straps, two clear plastic lenses, and a filter that attaches to the mouth with a metal canister. The canister has instructions printed on it explaining how to use the mask and how to keep the lenses from fogging. The canvas bag is printed with the logo of the chemical corps, the US Army's division in charge of deploying chemical weapons. These masks were issued to citizens in coastal cities that would have been the main targets of air raids during World War II. Size of mask: 10.5" L (26.7 cm)
