Description:

Kent R. Heindel (American, b. 1962). "Eskimo with Falcon Ring" fossilized whale and walrus bone carving, n.d. A charming fossilized whale and walrus bone sculpture titled "Eskimo with Falcon Ring" by the Alaskan artist Kent R. Heindel, depicting a hunter in celebration after catching his prey. The joyful figure stands on one foot, bending the other leg in a type of dance. He raises his left arm, holding a bolases that spin outward, while he grasps a bird in his other hand. Though the pedestal and body of the Inuit are carved from fossilized whale bone, his face, the bird, and the bolas are sculpted from smooth walrus ivory, nicely contrasting the porous surface of the ossified whale bone. Size: 3.8" L x 6.8" W x 15.3" H (9.7 cm x 17.3 cm x 38.9 cm)
