Andrei Vasseka (Alaskan-Russian, 1964- present), "Walrus" ca. 20th to 21st century CE. A charming walrus carving made from highly polished whale bone, the underside is signed by the artist. Andrei Vasseka was born in Russia (USSR) in 1964, and studied carving at Magadan - a port town in the far east of Russia - a region with a subarctic climate and a tradition of bone, ivory, and stone carving amongst Siberian Indigenous people. In 1993 Vasseka moved to Alaska and continues to work in stone, bone, and painting. Size: 6" L x 2.75" W x 2.75" H (15.2 cm x 7 cm x 7 cm)
