Description:

Native American, Alaska, Inuit, ca. 1920s CE. A beautifully-carved red cedar totem pole with an attached plinth with a flat base. The pole portion is painted with a variety of different-colored pigments and features an abstract anthropomorphic head surmounted by a large fish which is attempting to eat a frog which has already been caught by a large bird. Fine patina envelops much of the unpainted areas. Size: 2.25" W x 11.6" H (5.7 cm x 29.5 cm).

  • Condition: Totem pole attached to base with small metal nail. Minor abrasions and nicks to base and pole, with light fading to original pigmentation. Light earthen deposits throughout, and nice patina on unpainted areas. Old inventory label beneath base.
