West Africa, Nigeria, Igbo (Ibo) culture, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden face mask depicting a stylized female countenance. Ovoid eyes, full lips, a slender nose, and tab-shaped ears comprise the facial features flanked between a pair of spiraling bangs, and emanating from atop the top is a handle bearing a Janiform face. Pigments in pink, black, green, and white decorate the face in color. Size: 4.2" L x 5.875" W x 16.125" H (10.7 cm x 14.9 cm x 41 cm)
